I have used all of the amp-sims mentioned here already, and with all due respect to all users and devs, Scuffman Amps ([URL=") kicks butt, hands down. we live in a very cool time to be working in digital audio! he is releasing dozens of different speakers from some classic cabs, various mics and placements, and some "mix" cabs that have room samples, studio spaces, live feels. Just wanted to mention that Kevin, the dev at OwnHammer, has been working on some new sampling techniques and is producing some cab-packages that are so good and versatile, I am floored. With this set-up, I now often use Scuffman and some OwnHammer cab-sim even if I could mic my real cab. I used to use amp-sims only if I couldn't track a real amp and cab with great mics. But any of the formats will blow your mind.

OwnHammer has cab sims in many formats- wav ir's, AxeFX, Kemper amp, and my fav- Nebula. heh heh heh.Īnd as great as Scuffman is as-is, after tracking, I always swap out the cabs and use something from OwnHammer ()- Not free (but VERY reasonable), but they have been the cab sims that did the same thing that Scuffman did for the amp-sims. I have used all of the amp-sims mentioned here already, and with all due respect to all users and devs, Scuffman Amp's S-Gear () kicks butt, hands down.
